Description
Our early April day tour will concentrate on locating two specialist and scarce species. We will spend the morning at Yarner Woods on the East side of Dartmoor National Park, in search of Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers. Recent tours saw up to six individuals at this location. Once our target species has been seen by everyone, we will spend the rest of our time here looking for other residents like Marsh Tit, Yellowhammer, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Mistle Thrush, Treecreeper, Nuthatch, Siskin and more.
Once we have exhausted everything at Yarner we will head for RSPB Labrador Bay, a stronghold for Cirl Buntings. These scarce breeders can often be seen from the car park there and we will have a short walk to see what else we can see in the area.
Then its off to RSPB Bowling Green Marsh and the Exe Estuary where we will concentrate on Waders like Avocet, Black-tailed Godwit, Greenshank, Snipe, Curlew and possibly early Whimbrel.
